Journaling

Starting this blog is an attempt to journal about our life. Things in our daily life are happening so fast and things are constantly changing. I think back to when Elizabeth was just a baby and I have a hard time remember some of the little things. I hope that this blog will allow me to look back on things and have a journal for the girls to look back on as well.

Summer has just begun. My last day of school with the kids was on Friday and I just have two days left in my classroom and then I only have to go back on my terms. This coming year will be my 7th year teaching and my first time teaching the same grade back-to-back and staying in the same room. I am so happy about both of those things.

We are now official members of DCC and no longer will have to be "guests" of my parents. I told Mark that never did I ever imagine we would be members of a country club. Neither of us ever grew up going to one, and I know if it weren't for the fact that we live less then 5 minutes away it probably wouldn't have happened. I am so excited to take the girls to the pool as often as I can. They both love being in the water and I love playing with them at the pool.

We had a busy weekend. Friday morning Annie, Mark's Sister, gave birth to Job Thomas Shook. We all went over to the hospital before dinner time to meet our newest nephew and cousin. He is just adorable and looks just like Tim. Seeing him and watching Mark hold him really makes me hope that our next baby is a boy. After leaving the hospital we spent the rest of the night sitting outside of the Stopulos house watching the boats travel down the Mississippi River eating Happy Joe's Pizza. Saturday started off to be a great day. My mom and I hit a couple of garage sales. I went bathing suit shopping and didn't even dread going. I even found a suit that I really like. Then I came home to find that Miss Elizabeth had cut Kathryn's hair. She basically cut off all of her bangs. When I asked her why she did this her answer was "because." Elizabeth could tell that I was really upset and when I started to cry she also got very emotional. And poor Kathryn didn't know what the heck was going on. Luckily my stylist was able to get both girls in for a trim. Thankfully it is just hair and I know it will grow back. This will be just one of those stories that we will look back on and laugh. Sunday we visited the Snyder relatives in Hale, IA for a BBQ and a celebration of Grandma Snyder's half birthday. Today Elizabeth and I went birthday shopping for Kathryn. I can't believe that she will be 2 in a week. For dinner we had a BBQ at my parents with Grandma and Grandpa Hughes. It was a wonderful weekend!
